WORLDKILN // GOAL

Worldkiln Goal

The product goal and design boundary behind Worldkiln.

Worldkiln 0.8.0 fantasy fortress scene

«Make a game. Make it yours.»

Worldkiln exists to make game development approachable without taking authorship away from the developer.

The goal is simple:

Help someone go from an idea to their own standalone game.

BUILD → SCRIPT → PLAY → SHIP

What We Prioritize

Worldkiln should:

  • Make creating games easier to understand.
  • Keep building, scripting, testing, and debugging close together.
  • Teach through making rather than hiding game development.
  • Remove unnecessary complexity without removing creative control.
  • Give developers useful tools instead of prescribing what they should make.
  • Make finishing and shipping a game a first-class part of the workflow.
  • Allow finished games to exist independently from Worldkiln.

Worldkiln's current tools do not define its future limits.

Voxels, Actors, AeoScript, UI, physics, animation, audio, and other systems are tools toward the goal—not the goal itself.

New systems should be evaluated by a simple question:

«Does this help someone make their game?»

The Boundary

Worldkiln is a game engine and development tool.

It is not intended to become the destination where games must live.

Worldkiln is the tool. Your game is the product.
